D 'Cheri, the multitalented singer/songwriter/dancer/choreographer serves up the smokin’ hot solo single “I’m Alive” with a home-cooked appeal that titillates the eardrums and leaves you craving for more. The single takes you away from all the stress of the day, with its aromatic smooth jazz, soulful rhythm and blues guitar licks, and sultry, soothing vocals that ebb and flow on a harmonious musical tidal wave.
...breaking through the bump and bassflavor of modern
main-stream music...

…I’m Alive… splashes in with a vibe comparable to Sade’s “No Ordinary Love”, breaking through the stale “bump and bass” flavor of modern main-stream music, this groove fills you with a genuine quality of life and love, that penetrates down to the very core of your being, and brings you to life. To dance, this collaboration between “D’Cheri”, and R&B/Soul artist “Lina” embraces the sentiment of being with “the one” that you love.

The “once shy” songstress admits dreaming of performing on Soul Train at the tender age of 6, while singing in the choir of her hometown’s local church, of which her Grandfather was Pastor. With a twinge of grassroots Gospel, and nearly no secular music influence at all; the soul food of family love, warmth, and compassion quickly became the young starlet’s foundation for success.

Her move to Los Angeles to “cut a rug” on the Soul Train stage was a major culture shock, though you wouldn’t know it, due to her amazing grace. D’Cheri made her self quite at home, despite the hustle and bustle of the big city. Firmly planted and blooming wonderfully, this “roadrunner” got to work, pulling out all the stops. Teaching dance, and choreographing shows for various groups and artists, she accomplished one of her childhood dreams, in addition to performing with Lina to open for some of the greats, like Stevie Wonder, Erika Badu, James Brown, Chaka Khan; and performing with The Roots.

D’Cheri, whose birth-name is Donna Cheri, was destined for greatness early on, as she was named Cheri by her Auntie, after Stevie Wonder’s “Mi Cheri Amour” and lovely as a summer day, she is, who, despite all adversity, retains her down to earth, laid-back sparkle. A true “kid at heart”, D’Cheri is a living testimony that dedication to compassion, grace, and love will outshine any circumstance.
